Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin on September 4,1998. 17 years have passed and now  www.google.com is the most trafficked website in the world. Recently Facebook,the social networking giant has given google a tough competition.But as of now no can  beat google on traffic.Welcome to MoreTop5 and today we present to you the surprising  facts of the most used website till date.

5.Amount of searches 

The number of searches that google get is just mind blowing.In the year 2012, it received a total of 1,873,910,000,000 which is 1 trillion, 873 billion, 910 million searches. If that's not impressive enough, that many searches are around 5 billion a day. After all , google manages to give results to each user in about a fifth of a second. It's all because google spends 5 billion on new data centers and services every year.


4.Google isn't just a search engine

Google is not just a search engine but it also provides 100's of other services too like mail,drive,play,blogger,maps etc.And do not forget YouTube which google bought for 1.65 billion dollars. Some of the  major services are below

Google mail: Gmail is a free e-mail service provided by google inc. It's accessed by millions of users and google mail provides each user  free usage up to 15GB.


Google translate: It's a free statistical translation service by Google to translate speech,images,text etc. It has over 200 million users and is available in 90+ languages.


Blogger: It's a  blog-publishing service with time-stamped entries and was launched in 1999.Also,whats interesting is that  one user can have up to 100 blogs.





3.Home Page Remaining so Basic.

We know that google is so very advanced but why does the home page remain so basic.That was because Larry Page and Sergey Bin did not know HTML when they launched google back in 1995. They just wanted to make the website do the job. In fact, it did not even have a 'search button' and the only way to search was to use the return button.


2.'I'm Feeling Lucky' and the 'Did you mean' Features.

The I'm Feeling Lucky button which takes users directly into the search results is never really used.This button costs google a loss of 100 million dollars in lost advertising revenues.They thought of removing the button but that somehow reduces google experience.On the other side,there is that 'Did You Mean' button which is one of the google's successive invention and after that invention the traffic was doubled.




1.Treatment that is given to the Google Employees

New google workers are called Noogles and they wear a special cap on first Friday.
